1/4 tsp (2g) baking soda

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup (115g) granulated sugar

1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 tsp (5g) vanilla extract

Optional: 8oz white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
Instructions

Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.

Cream butter & sugar: In a separate bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add egg & vanilla: Beat in egg and vanilla extract until combined.

Combine: Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Fold in white chocolate if using.

Shape cookies: Scoop dough (~1.5 tbsp per cookie) onto prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.

Bake: 12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.

Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (5-10 minutes).
